Fall Formal

It is almost time for fall formal! Our homeschool group is hosting the dance on Friday in our gymnasium. My wife and I will be going as a chaperones. I have three kids going to the dance this year, and they are having an after party at our house after the dance, SO the kids and the wife are getting the house ready for company while I do homework. This is the first dance in YEARS that I haven't been involved in, and it's kinda nice not having to worry about it.

The struggle is real

Now that FrightFest has ended our Homeschool is getting back to normal. Chris is a senior, and worked FrightFest at Six Flags EVERY weekend in October. He's had a rough time keeping up with his school work while working at Frightfest, because he left on Friday & was gone all weekend.

It is a family traditional to work FrightFest, so he kinda had to do it. Both his older brothers worked there gone back to 2009. They have been pig-men, zombies, vampires, maniacs and now a mutant clown. You gotta love getting paid $9.65/hour to scare teen girls. :D

1st college visit

This week there are no classes at Homeschooler Link, so my wife and I are taking our son for his first college visit. Chris is interested in the Theatre program offered on the River Campus at Southeast Missouri State University. The college built River Campus in order to allow all their artistic students to study and perform in one location. A school of  School of Visual and Performing Arts like this is unique among public universities, and we are very excited about making this trip.
There are buildings on River Campus that date back to the mid 1800's when it was a seminary for Catholic priest. They broke ground on the new buildings in 2003, and held their grand opening of the entire facility in 2007. The 7th anniversary of the grand opening is tomorrow, which is a happy coincidence.

Back to Blogging

I have had my Blogger account for six years, and don't remember the last time I used it. My family keeps up on what we are doing using Facebook post, and Facebook groups. I am starting this blog for a class I'm in this semester.
I found the process of updating it pretty straightforward, and learned how to post videos and pictures to my blog. This blog will most likely be used for this semester, and I'll reevaluate how I'm using it in December.

I'm a homeschooling dad

My wife and I started homeschooling our children in 1999. Our homeschool is called Stepping Stones Academy. We have graduated two, and sent them to college with scholarships. There are still three at home; they are a freshman, junior, and a senior. It is kinda amazing that we have three in high school now. We belong to a co-op called Homeschooler Link (hence the name) which meets on Thursdays from 10am - 4pm. It offers over a dozen classes for 80 plus families.
I am also a homeschooler. For the past 3 years I have been taking classes on-line through Pace University in NYC. It is one of the top on-line degree programs in the world.
